The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Blacksburg and Roanoke areas to take effect at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

In anticipation of wintry weather beginning at 10 p.m., Virginia Tech has put snow emergency routes in effect 10 p.m. this evening.

This designation goes into effect when road conditions deteriorate to the point where road travel is difficult. Generally, this occurs when the road is significantly iced or approximately three to four inches of snow has fallen.

Parking and bus route impacts

When a Snow Route Emergency is declared, certain roads on campus must remain open for emergency vehicle use. All vehicles parked along these five roads (parallel and diagonal) must be removed or they will be towed at owner's expense. Please visit the Campus winter weather traffic and parking emergency procedures page to learn more.
