To the university community,

As we wrap up a noteworthy academic year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for being part of a great 2018-2019 Virginia Tech experience. Your endeavors, achievements, and contributions to our community made us stronger, individually and collectively.

To those who are leaving us for the summer, we hope you have wonderful experiences as well as some time for rest and reflection, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. If you are graduating this month, we wish you success and fulfillment in the years ahead and hope you return frequently, because you will always have a home in this community.

To those who work year-round to keep Virginia Tech on the leading edge of education and innovation, I hope you take time as you are able to celebrate your accomplishments and recharge your batteries.

We have important work ahead of us as we finalize a new strategic plan, improve accessibility and safety for our campus community, and prepare to accommodate an incoming class of outstanding students. More details will be coming over the summer and in my State of the University address this fall  We look forward to welcoming new students, faculty and staff — and thanks to all of you, we will be ready.

Have a happy, and safe summer!

Tim Sands,
President
