Virginia Tech recognized employees for their commitment to professional development at a ceremony July 18.
The ceremony recognized employees who fulfilled the requirements for one or more professional development and research administration certificate programs offered by the Division of Human Resources and Office for Research and Innovation.
During the 2018-19 academic year, more than 130 employees completed certificate programs.
- One hundred fourteen employees earned certificates in the following programs offered by Human Resources: Administrative Professional Development, Customer Service Excellence, Leadership Excellence, Office Software Skills, and Supervisory Excellence.
- Thirty-eight employees earned certificates in the Research Administrator Level I and Level II programs and four completed the Certificate Research Administrator program through the Office for Research and Innovation and the Research Administrators Certificate Council.
“Congratulations to these colleagues who have dedicated time and energy to making themselves better, living our Virginia Tech education mission,” said Bryan Garey, vice president for human resources. “Thanks to the managers who supported their employees’ development goals. Continued development is how we improve as a university, positioning us to fulfill our Beyond Boundaries vision; plus, learning is fun. One of our goals in Human Resources is to support ongoing learning and development as part of creating a great place to work for our faculty and staff.”
“Each year Virginia Tech researchers are trusted with over half a billion dollars of public and private money to engage in knowledge creation on hundreds of topics. Research projects succeed because of the effective and efficient work of a well-orchestrated team, on which research administration professionals play a critical role,” said Lisa M.
