Four things to know about Ring Premiere
October 4, 2019
Virginia Tech introduces a new collection of ring designs for each class. The tradition spans more than 100 years. The Class of 2021 ring design will be unveiled Oct. 9 at Ring Premiere. That morning, a Blacksburg Transit Ring Bus will be dedicated at a ribbon cutting ceremony near the Pylons.
Here are four things to know about the annual tradition of Ring Premiere.
1. It's a chance to see the big reveal. Virginia Tech is one of a few colleges and universities that redesign their ring collections each year. The Class of 2021 will unveil its design at the premiere. You can also snag a free class T-shirt at the event.
2. Enjoy fireworks on the Drillfield after the premiere.
3. Check off No. 36 on the Hokie Bucket list: "Attend your class Ring Premiere" and then No. 5 "Wear the Tradition," by ordering a class ring. The collection can be viewed in Squires Student Center. Share your story online using #WearTheTradition.
4. Celebrate ring namesake Vice President for Alumni Relations Emeritus George E. "Buddy" Russell ’52 and class sponsor Alumni Distinguished Professor Art Keown, R. B. Pamplin Professor in Finance at Pamplin College of Business. Selected by each class, the ring namesake and sponsor are honorary roles.
