Justin T. Noble, former assistant chief audit executive at Texas Tech University System, has been named director of internal audit at Virginia Tech.

In his new position, Noble will provide management direction in planning all risk-based, compliance, information technology, investigative, and advisory reviews. He will supervise a team of internal auditors, review the evaluation of internal controls and resulting recommendations, and partner proactively with colleagues across the university.

A certified internal auditor, Noble has worked in higher education for more than 10 years, and in internal audit for more than 15 years. In his most recent position for the Texas Tech University System, he directed and conducted fraud investigations and assisted in executing the annual audit plan to ensure achievement of performance.

Prior to his time at the Texas Tech University System, Noble had prior audit experience at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Southwest airlines.

Noble is the immediate past president of the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA), having completed his tenure as president this fall. He previously chaired ACUA’s NCAA Taskforce, led its distance-learning efforts, and is a member of the association’s faculty. He has presented at ACUA, Texas Association of College and University Auditors, Texas Tech, among others, and has published articles on higher education audit in College and University Auditor and EDUCAUSE Review.

Noble received dual master’s degrees in business administration and architecture from Texas Tech University.
