Who: Virginia Tech and Port City Brewing Company

  • Sean O’Keefe is a professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech. A home brewer himself, O’Keefe started the Brewing Science and Technology course that has a chemistry foundation, but also looks at the historical and cultural significance of brewing, tasting, and exploring a variety of beer styles.

  • Crystal Fraley is the Quality Control Manager at Port City Brewing Company. She is a self-described yeast enthusiast who has worked in the beverage industry for almost a decade.
