On Aug. 24, the Virginia Tech Police Department received a report of online threats and the use of discriminatory language. The author posted these comments in an online meeting platform which was occupied by a large portion of a living learning community. Virginia Tech Police was made aware of these posts shortly after they appeared. At this time, Virginia Tech Police is unable to verify the credibility of this threat but are making the information available to the community for awareness. Anyone with any information concerning these posts is strongly encouraged to call Virginia Tech Police at 540-382-4343.

Virginia Tech Police is currently investigating this incident. The department would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant, be aware of your surroundings at all times, and to immediately report any suspicious person or persons and/or suspicious activity to the police by dialing 911, or by dialing the non-emergency Virginia Tech Police number at 540-382-4343.
