Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus Capt. Eric Keith, who received a degree in psychology from the College of Science in 1999, has been selected as a Hokie Hero.

The corps Hokie Hero program, started in 2006 by ISP Sports and sponsored by the University Bookstore, honors Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni who are currently deployed. Recipients of this honor are featured during the radio broadcast of Virginia Tech football games, on the corps website, on the corps alumni website and in the Corps Review magazine.

Keith is currently stationed at Al Asad Airbase, Iraq, as a member of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 266, United States Marine Corps. Keith is from Pittsburgh, Pa., and is a Class of 1999 graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, a department within the Division of Student Affairs. He has been deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq. This is Keith’s third combat deployment.

During his senior year in the corps, Keith was the 1st Battalion Commander, charged with leading over 250 cadets. Since graduation, Keith has returned to campus to participate in one of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Gunfighter Panels, relating his combat leadership experiences to the corps.
