Givens joined the faculty at Auburn University in 2000, and during his tenure has served in various positions before taking on his current role as associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. He will begin at Virginia Tech on June 1, 2020.
After adopting a pregnant mare rescued from squalor, Amiya Veatch turned to Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center and its Foaling Out Program for specialized care. Now a spirited yearling, the foal and his mare are thriving in a small herd pastured on a pristine farm that overlooks the Potomac River.
Made in memory of a beloved family horse, Just Java, who succumbed in 2015 to laminitis, a generous gift from Karen Jones Squires and James Squires supported a much-needed renovation and expansion of a neurologic stall at Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia.
