It was a historic weekend for Virginia Tech. Always known for its signature Hokie hospitality, the university campus community pulled out all the stops to welcome close to 9,000 admitted students and families for the largest Hokie Focus event to date.
The National Resource Center for First-Year Experiences and Students in Transition recently honored Lori Blanc of the Virginia Tech College of Science with its 2017-2018 Excellence in Teaching First-Year Seminars award.
The book explores the lives of two individuals with the same name who grew up in similar neighborhoods in Baltimore. The two Wes Moores’ lives diverge dramatically, one taking a path that ends in incarceration and the other a path that leads to a Rhodes Scholarship.
Eric Greitens – a former Navy SEAL, founder of The Mission Continues, best-selling author, and candidate for the governor of Missouri – will visit Virginia Tech next month to discuss his life, part of which is detailed in his book, “The Heart and the Fist,” which was selected as Virginia Tech’s 2015-16 Common Book.
