BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — While most dogs prefer to go for a walk, a little lost chihuahua decided to go for a run with — or rather, from — some Virginia Tech police officers on Thursday. Fortunately, those officers caught up to her quickly.

According to Virginia Tech Police, Officer Jamal Jackson noticed a chihuahua wandering around without its owner on Beamer Way during his routine patrol on Thursday, April 8.

Officer Josh Jones jumped in to assist with the “short foot/paw pursuit” of the pooch, which ended on Washington Street at Steger Hall, officials say.

Police say the chihuahua, Cecily, ran away from her Blacksburg home on Tuesday, April 6, leading her owner to post about the dog’s disappearance on social media.

Even though a number of citizens reportedly tried to catch and return Cecily to her proper home over the past two days, the dog was busy exploring the Blacksburg community.

However, Virginia Tech Police say Cecily was returned to her owner safe and sound on Thursday.
