All-gender restroom opens in Squires Student Center

From Student Affairs:

Student Engagement and Campus Life is pleased to announce the opening of a single-user, all-gender restroom in Squires Student Center. The additional restroom serves as a place where all gender identities and expressions are welcome. The restroom also serves as a "family" restroom and offers an extra-large changing table. It is located on the second floor of Squires near rooms 234 and 236, a short walk from Squires’ central elevator.

Thanks to Trans student activists and a variety of stakeholder groups including the LGBT Faculty and Staff Caucus and Cultural and Community Centers, Student Engagement and Campus Life transformed a storage closet into the all-gender restroom.

Jordan Harrison, caucus co-chair said, “We are beyond thrilled to see Student Engagement and Campus Life and Student Affairs take a huge step to let our transgender and gender non-conforming faculty, staff, and students know they matter and belong in our community. We hope this momentum carries forward in other spaces on campus.”

This restroom is the second all-gender restroom in Squires. There is an additional all-gender restroom on the first floor of the Graduate Life Center.

Student Engagement and Campus Life in Student Affairs strives to cultivate environments where all students can thrive. All-gender restrooms are another step to ensure a more inclusive campus environment and promote student well-being.
