Virginia Tech once again placed among the top colleges and universities in the nation for “Town-Gown Relations are Great” in the 2018 Princeton Review rankings, earning the No. 15 spot out of 382 institutions. The continued recognition is largely due to the planning and purposeful dialogue facilitated by the town-gown committee, a group made up of Virginia Tech and Town of Blacksburg representatives.

Co-chaired by Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Frank Shushok and Deputy Town Manager Steven Ross, the town-gown team holds six monthly forums each year on issues that generate conversation across campus and throughout Blacksburg. Student voices are a key part of the meetings, with members of the Virginia Tech Student Life Council taking an active role in the discussions.
