Town-gown meeting Nov. 29 focuses on future development in Blacksburg
From: Student Affairs
The Affordable Housing Puzzle in Blacksburg will be the subject of the next town-gown meeting on Thursday, November 29. The meeting will be held in the O’Shaughnessy Residence Hall Classroom, 530 Washington Street, Blacksburg, Virginia. Matt Hanratty, assistant to the Town Manager, and Frank Shushok, senior associate vice president for Student Affiars at Virginia Tech, will co-lead the discussion, which will include a tour of the newly renovated O’Shaughnessy Hall.
The purposeful dialogue is facilitated by the town-gown committee, a group made up of Virginia Tech and Town of Blacksburg representatives. Co-chaired by Frank Shushok and Blacksburg Deputy Town Manager Steven Ross, the town-gown team holds six monthly forums each year on issues that generate conversation across campus and throughout Blacksburg. Student voices are a key part of the meetings, with members of the Virginia Tech Student Life Council taking an active role in the discussions. Students, faculty, staff, and town residents are invited to attend.
