College of Science collecting eclipse glasses

September 4, 2017

Eclipse watching

Eclipse watching
Patty Perillo, vice president for student affairs at Virginia Tech, watches the Aug. 21 eclipse.

Still have your filter glasses from the 2017 Eclipse? Help give them a second chance.

The Virginia Tech College of Science is collecting the special viewers on behalf of nonprofit groups Astronomers Without Borders and Explore Scientific, who will send the glasses to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019.

The College of Science is a signed Glasses Collection Center and will be collecting the glasses until Oct. 1, 2017.  Please send or drop off your glasses (must be in good condition, with no tears) at:
