New summer bike storage option available for students

From: Virginia Tech Transportation Services
The Virginia Tech Alternative Transportation Department has implemented a new bike storage option for students. For the first time, students are able to pay to store their bikes on campus at the Hokie Bike Hub until they return for the fall semester.
Students can purchase their summer bike storage permits through the Parking Services website at a cost of $20. This option is cheaper and easier than retrieving a bike from impoundment, which costs $25.
After purchasing a permit, students should connect with the Alternative Transportation Department at email@example.com to coordinate storage at the Hokie Bike Hub.
The Hokie Bike Hub is an on-campus bicycle maintenance and commuter education center. At the Bike Hub, cyclists have access to tools and resources for self–service bike repair. Cyclists can also attend bike-themed workshops or learn how to maintain and repair bikes through one–on–one sessions with Alternative Transportation staff.
By providing this new option for students, the Alternative Transportation Department hopes to reduce the number of bike impoundments and give students peace of mind knowing that their bike is being safely stored.
For more information or for any questions, please contact the Alternative Transportation Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or 540-231-2116. Visit the Hokie Bike Hub at 1330 Perry Street inside the Perry Street Parking Garage.
