From: Virginia Tech Transportation Services

As a courtesy reminder, Virginia Tech Fleet Services is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday) and ready to serve the campus community. If you need to rent a vehicle for university purposes, the Fleet Services team can help.

Fleet Services’ rates are competitive with national car rental companies, with a fleet that includes small sedans, large sedans, 7-passenger mini vans (including one that is ADA accessible), 12-passenger vans, cargo vans, and multiple trucks. Vehicles can be operated by faculty, staff, or students (as young as 18).

Fleet Services continues to thoroughly clean and sanitize all vehicles between reservations. For those who wish to wipe down common surfaces in the vehicle themselves for self-assurance, a bottle of disinfectant spray and paper towels are available at the front desk. Customers may also use personal disinfectant wipes if they prefer.

How to rent a vehicle

Anyone who wishes to rent a vehicle from Fleet Services must first set up a user profile in FleetCommander, the department’s reservation system. Directions are provided at the link. The Proper Use of State Vehicles form (FS-2) must also be filled out. A reservation request must go through one’s department to get approval from the department’s fund manager.

Fleet Services’ website has more information about signing up as a user, policies and procedures, vehicle rates, and making a reservation.

If you have additional questions, please contact Fleet Services at (540) 231-6141 or fs@vt.edu. We’d love to serve your transportation needs.
