Once again, Hokie Wellness, in partnership with Warm Heath Village, is offering a full day Elder Care Symposium. The symposium will offer multiple sessions throughout the day on a variety of topics for aging adults, their caregivers and employees who may be planning their future.

New this year, will be a panel discussion on “Aging with Social Connection.” Maintaining social connection is an integral part of healthy aging. In this panel discussion, attendees will be able to talk with professionals about ways to help loved ones maintain independence while fostering a valuable connection to the community.

Lora Epperly, R.N., director of business development and care innovations, from Commonwealth Care, Inc., Roanoke, will present the opening and closing keynotes. She has significant experience in the long-term care, acute care, and home care settings, corporate health and benefits arena, as a staff nurse, nurse manager, senior management team member and consultant.

The symposium is Wednesday, May 24, beginning at 8 a.m. with registration and light refreshments. All presentations will be held in the auditorium of the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech. Registration is available for individual sessions or for the entire symposium. A light lunch will be provided for those who register for the entire day symposium by The Periodic Table food truck.
