From: College of Natural Resources and Environment

NOTE: Registration for the InsideTREES summer camp is currently full, but there is a waiting list. Email Audrey Zink-Sharp at to be added to the list.

InsideTREES is a three-day educational summer program for high school students provided by the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials on Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus. Participants will arrive the evening of Sunday, June 9, 2019, and depart the morning of Thursday, June 13, 2019.

The deadline for applications is May 17, 2019. Only 10 students will be accepted, so slots will fill up quickly.

The program presents a unique opportunity for high school students to experience college life and learn about an interdisciplinary environmental field. The goal of the program is to increase awareness of educational and career opportunities in natural resources and sustainable biomaterials, especially for women and minority students.

All expenses, except transportation to and from Virginia Tech and personal items, will be covered for those students accepted into the program. Participants will be provided a dorm room in a residence hall on the Blacksburg campus and breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day at one of Virginia Tech’s award-winning dining facilities. Participants will be monitored in the evenings by chaperones in the residence halls.

If a teacher or parent is interested in participating in the program or serving as a chaperone staying in the residence hall with the students, please contact Audrey Zink-Sharp at
