Sophomore cadets and will make a 13-mile march on Saturday, Oct. 24, to honor their spring Caldwell March that was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

In total, the march commemorates the 26-mile journey Addison Caldwell, the first cadet and student at Virginia Tech, made in 1872. Cadets walk 13 miles in the fall and use the second 13 miles in the spring to mark the formal end to the first year of cadet training.

At the conclusion of the march, Skipper, the Corps of Cadets cannon, will be fired three times, estimated at about 1:30, 2, and 3 p.m. Actual times depends on how long the march takes subject to weather and road conditions.
