Giving back with 2019 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign
In this season of giving, we are reminded of the importance of giving back, even if it is in small ways. A great way to do this is to donate to a charity that is near to your heart through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC). As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday and with only a few weeks remaining in the campaign, employees are encouraged to continue donating.
Thanks to generous contributions that our employees have already made, the campaign has raised more than $220,000 of the university’s $390,000 goal since the kickoff on Sept. 30. While this is a great accomplishment, there is not much time left to reach our goal.
CVC is a workplace giving program where state employees designate financial gifts to one or more participating charities varying in health and human services, animal welfare, environmental conservation, and medical research. With approximately 1,000 participating, there is a charity available for everyone.
This year’s campaign will run until Dec. 13. No donation is too small, and all donations will help reach our university goal.
Employees can donate through online payroll deduction, choosing either a one-time deduction or a 24-pay period deduction. To contribute to the campaign, donations can be made through the campaign website. Cash and checks are also accepted.
Since 2010, Virginia Tech employees have donated more than $2.8 million to local charities in the New River Valley and across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Last year’s campaign surpassed the $375,000 goal, bringing in over $380,000.
More information about the campaign can be found on the CVC website.
