Virginia Tech’s new learning platform launches this fall for employees
From: Human Resources
This fall, an easy-to-use learning platform, PageUp Learning Management System (LMS), will launch for employees, laying the system-based foundation to support Virginia Tech’s culture of continuous learning.
Integrated with the previously launched PageUp recruiting and onboarding portal, LMS will begin with the new hire and annual compliance training courses. Following launch, the project team will continue to work with partners across campus to expand course options and training opportunities. The system will continue also grow with the addition of events such as interactive face-to-face training, recommended articles and readings, engaging webinars and videos, and on-the-job development activities.
The PageUp LMS is also designed to support employee’s individual development plans, capture completed learnings, and share accomplishments with supervisors and colleagues. Supervisors will be able to guide their team and individual development by assigning and recommending training designed to enhance professional growth.
In the future, the system will provide a more integrated training experience for employees.
“Developing our faculty and staff is critical on many levels; it provides growth opportunities for the individual and new skills to help Virginia Tech move ahead,” said Bryan Garey, vice president for human resources. “It also models our education mission by supporting lifelong learning. An easy to use LMS enables planning and learning as well as tracking many of our compliance obligations. It’s a much needed resource at Virginia Tech and another way for Human Resources to support our valuable faculty and staff.”
