Ready to Return: HR resources for employees and leaders
From: Human Resources
As Virginia Tech prepares for the fall 2020 semester, we know our employees and leaders have many questions about returning to campus. The Division of Human Resources is here to help with the following resources:
Ready Resources website
Human Resources has developed a Ready Resources for Employees page, a new one-stop-shop for that features links and resources, including information on new university protocols, telework, leave options, and general employee wellness. Following are highlights of the information on the website:
- Guidance for employees: Due to the impact of COVID-19, the university is implementing new protocols that all members of the Virginia Tech community are asked to follow. These changes aim to provide the best work and learning experience possible while maintaining the safety, health, and well-being of our campus community. Information and resources regarding these changes to campus can be found under the Guidance for Employees link on the site. We encourage employees to review the Guidance on Returning to Campus for Employees.
- Telework and remote work: One of the changes we’ve seen with COVID-19 is an increase in telework and remote work. While not every position is well suited for telework, Virginia Tech supports flexible and alternative work options when telework or remote work is not an option. The Telework and Remote Work Information for Employees and Leaders tab on the Ready Resources website features a guide and resources for employees and leaders to determine if telework/remote work is a good solution.
- Leave, wellness, and other resources: Ready Resources for Employees also features important information on leave, benefits, and general employee wellness that will be relevant as the fall 2020 semester begins.

Virginia Tech has an agreement with Google to ensure the documents are encrypted when in transit and after they have been uploaded to the folder. All documents will be reviewed when they are submitted by the HR Service Center and moved to the appropriate team for processing. If forms are received after normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the forms will be reviewed the next business day. Processing times can vary. Read more information on HR's drop box here.

Human Resources is hosting Zoom sessions where leaders with direct reports can join to learn about available resources, ask questions, and have a conversation about key topics, issues, and concerns they are receiving from employees. Following is the session schedule, which includes several new sessions through mid-August.
