In advance of the upcoming Thanksgiving break, Virginia Tech is offering voluntary COVID-19 testing for faculty, staff, and wage employees.
Voluntary testing will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19 at Lane Stadium and Monday, Nov. 23 at Schiffert Health Center.
Employees should receive their results in 48 to 72 hours of being tested.
If you are a high-contact employee who is regularly tested because of your job with the university and you sign up for voluntary testing, please note “surveillance” in the comment field when you register.
Additional voluntary employee testing will be offered in December and January. Additional dates and registration links will be published soon. See below for other commonly asked questions.

No, if you have a fever or COVID-19 symptoms or believe you have been in close contact (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) regardless of whether the person was wearing a mask or not, you should not sign up for a voluntary employee test. Instead, contact your healthcare provider or an urgent care clinic for additional instructions. Read this campus notice for more information.
Employees who register for testing on Nov. 19 will go to Lane Stadium Gate 1. Reserved parking is available in the Stadium Lot where employees may park without a permit.
Employees who register for testing on Nov. 23 will go to Schiffert Health Clinic. Employees should enter the clinic through the main entrance in McComas Hall on Washington Street. Parking is available in the Coliseum Lot without a permit in the spaces closest to Schiffert Health Center.

Nasal swab tests are being used for voluntary employee testing. The type of swab being used is a mid-turbinate swab.
