Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology accepting applications for student funding

The Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT) is accepting applications for student grants for the spring 2020 academic semester in support of projects that leverage the combined strengths of science, engineering, art, and design to tackle real-world challenges. Three grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to help students pursue a range of transdisciplinary activities that are creativity-fueled and human-centric.

Current students are invited to submit an application and lead a project team. The project leaders must be enrolled at Virginia Tech in good standing as a graduate or undergraduate.

Proposals should involve two or more of the following areas represented by ICAT:

Visual Arts


Life sciences/Agriculture

Creative writing

Earth science

Physical sciences

Industrial design

Performing arts



Human sciences


Social sciences


Computer science
