Updated Hokie Handbook available online

The Virginia Tech Hokie Handbook outlines university policies and procedures that apply to all students (graduate, undergraduate, and professional) and student organizations. The following information is included in the handbook:

  • Student Code of Conduct (p. 13), which defines behavioral expectations for all students and organizations.
  • University Policies for Student Life (p. 33), including absence verification, class attendance, fire alarm procedures, smoking policy, identification cards and parking regulations, as well as other general information regarding student life.
  • Dining Policies and Procedures (p. 38), including information about lost IDs, sick meals, reusable bottles, table cards, and dining with faculty.
  • Terms and Conditions of Housing Contracts (p. 40), including the visitation and guest policy as well as information about lost room keys, approved and prohibited items, room conditions, and room changes.

Updates to the 2019-2020 Hokie Handbook include a weapons policy revision (p. 17) and a statement regarding sanction enhancements for policy violations that are motivated by bias (p. 55).

Students are expected to stay informed on all policies affecting them and may obtain written clarification of any policy by emailing Student Conduct at studentconduct@vt.edu. The 2019-2020 Virginia Tech Hokie Handbook is now available to view or download
