The intersection of Washington Street and Beamer Way by Cassell Coliseum will soon look and feel a little bit different thanks to new stop signs that are in the process of being installed at the intersection. With the new stops signs on Washington Street and existing stop sign on Beamer Way, all three legs of the intersection will be required to come to a stop.

The stop signs will help improve multi-modal mobility through the intersection, and enhance intersection visibility and safety, especially for those turning onto Washington Street from Beamer Way.

As part of the improvements, the existing mid-block crosswalk just east of the intersection is being relocated to the intersection to improve safety and a new curb ramp on the north side of Washington Street will be constructed as well.

Intersection improvements are expected to be completed before Aug. 21. In the coming weeks, drivers and pedestrians are asked to travel through the intersection with caution as the stop signs and traffic flow become more familiar.
