Crime Alert: Residential burglaries reported on campus

Virginia Tech Police Department has recently received reports of two residential burglaries that occurred in Ambler Johnston Hall. The offenses occurred between Aug. 18 and Aug. 23.
On Aug. 23, Virginia Tech Police received two reports of burglary, which occurred at 720 Washington Street on the Virginia Tech campus. One of the reports occurred between Aug. 18 and Aug. 23. The suspect or suspects likely entered the residence through an unlocked door and stole cash. There is no suspect description related to this incident.
The second incident occurred on Aug. 23. The victim entered his residence to find two college-aged black males inside. The suspects stated they had unintentionally entered the wrong room and promptly left. The victim found that small items had been taken from his room. The suspects gained entry through an unlocked door.

All residents are reminded to lock their doors when out of the room or sleeping. All personal items in a residence hall room can become easy targets and an unlocked door can be an invitation to a thief.
