Office of the President announces structural changes, new President's Cabinet
From: Office of the President
Strategically addressing operational challenges impacting the university’s future are more important than ever. Over the past year, the President’s Council engaged in discussions around advancing our strategic plan university’s priorities and led us to reimagine the purpose, role, and composition of the President’s Council, President’s Leadership Team, and Executive Staff.
To ensure broad input from leadership and subject matter experts, the Executive Staff and President’s Leadership Team have been combined and reshaped into a single entity, the President’s Cabinet. The Cabinet, which serves in an advisory capacity to the President, will also include a representative from the Council of Deans.
While much attention over the last two months has been on the university’s COVID-19 response and recovery, thoughtful and intentional work around our continuous strategic planning process and initiatives will be even more important during the challenging year ahead. The President’s Cabinet will ensure that the right people are working together in a robust, focused effort to advance Virginia Tech.
The President’s Council will continue to be engaged in advancing the university’s strategic plan and priorities. The frequency of their meetings has been increased to ensure campus leadership is prepared to respond to the rapidly changing higher education and global environment.
