Training deadline approaching for the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Human Subjects Research Basic Course
November 6, 2020
From: The Office for Research and Innovation’s Division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance
On Jan. 21, 2109, the Human Research Protection Program transitioned from the old Virginia Tech Institutional Review Board (IRB) training requirement to Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). Any non-CITI training that was completed prior to Jan. 21, 2019 will expire on Jan. 21, 2021.
This includes Virginia Tech IRB Online, Blackboard, Classroom, Good Clinical Practice, and other non-CITI human subjects trainings. If researchers do not update this training they will not be able to submit a request for Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) or IRB review until the new training requirement has been completed. To avoid delays in submissions, researchers need to complete the new training requirement.
Check training status:
Log into the Protocol Management System
Click on “Your CV & Training Status” on the menu on the left side of the page
If training was completed before Jan. 21, 2019 and the training type is not listed as “CITI Online Training,” new training requirements need to be completed
Details on how to complete the CITI training requirement can be found here
For any questions, please contact the HRPP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
