Spring move-in and testing schedule announced for on-campus students
From: Student Affairs
Spring 2021 move-in will take place from Jan. 16 through Jan. 24. Timeslots are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All students living on-campus received an email with instructions for sign up on Monday, Dec. 7. Students who are athletes, spring admits required to attend orientation, members of Oak Lane sororities, or Corps of Cadets leadership will receive specific instruction from their program.
Students will select a move-in timeslot from the available times listed in the StarRez Portal. Roommates should not select the same timeslot in order to reduce the number of people in a room at the same time. Students can log into the StarRez Portal starting on Dec. 7, and they must select their timeslot before noon on Jan. 4. Students should refer to the email sent by Housing and Residence Life for details on how to sign up for a timeslot.
Students returning to housing will have 30 minutes to move back into their space. Students who are new to housing will have two hours to move in. Similar to the fall, students will not have access to their residence hall room until their timeslot.
All students are permitted 2 guests to assist with the move-in process. Masks must be worn at all times. At the conclusion of the timeslot, all guests must depart the residence halls.
COVID-19 Testing Requirement:
All on-campus residential students at Virginia Tech will be required to be tested for COVID-19. COVID-19 testing times will be scheduled shortly after move-in timeslots end. The testing date and time will be assigned and emailed to students in the Spring Assignments letter. Students will not select their own testing time.
Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Aug. 1 will be exempt from the mandatory COVID-19 move-in testing. Students should refer to the email sent by Housing and Residence Life for instructions on providing positive test results from clinics other than Schiffert.
