Virginia Tech continues to operate under the 'essential operations' designation
From: University Relations
On May 15, under the direction of Gov. Ralph Northam, the Commonwealth of Virginia (with the exception of certain localities in Northern Virginia) moved into Phase One of the “Forward Virginia” plan.
Virginia Tech continues to operate under the “essential operations” designation, as it will for the immediate future, with activities and staffing scaled to meet the current needs of students, faculty, and staff. Any changes to this status will be communicated with notices and a take-effect date.
Planning and preparations for future operations are ongoing. On or about June 8, Virginia Tech will announce decisions about the fall semester. The timeline offers the longest possible window to tune our model for increasing the scale of our operations with the latest information about the pandemic and emerging best practices for protecting the health of our communities.
