Are you looking for opportunities to continue your professional and personal development? Then be sure to check out the courses offered by Virginia Tech’s University Organizational and Professional Development (UOPD).

UOPD is a resource for Virginia Tech employees that offers a variety of professionaldiversity, leadershiporganizational development options. Following is a spotlight on two popular courses:

Professional Development – KAI Workshop:
Differences in the way we are creative, solve problems, and ultimately make decisions are related to distinctive patterns of behavior. This workshop uses the Kirton Adaptation-Innovation Inventory (KAI) to help participants identify their unique cognitive (“thinking”) style and learn how to use this insight to more effectively facilitate team collaboration, creativity and diversity of thought.

Spring 2018 Dates: Feb. 22, April 17, 8:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Diversity Development – Inclusive Communication:
This course examines how our language and image choices contribute to or diminish an inclusive environment. During this workshop, we will explore the various ways we communicate, investigate how language matters, increase awareness of assumptions, and practice analyzing what we see and hear.

Spring 2018 Date: Jan. 30, 1 – 5 p.m.
