Parking in the Perry Street area will require a new permit, while a remote lot located near the Corporate Research Center will offer parking at a lower annual rate. Commuter/graduate student permits go on sale on Aug. 1.
For one hour in June, Virginia Tech students and employees in Blacksburg will be asked to turn off and unplug all noncritical lighting and electrical loads in their residence halls, classrooms, offices, and laboratories.
The projects were selected as part of the Green RFP Program managed by the Virginia Tech Office of Sustainability. Every year, the office seeks proposals from students and student groups for sustainability projects that support Virginia Tech’s Climate Action Commitment, especially projects focused on energy efficiency and energy conservation.
In addition to upgraded furnishings, the renovation will include the installation of an air conditioning system, additional community spaces, and a unique glass-enclosed stairway that will face a newly landscaped exterior courtyard.
