Integral to the Virginia Tech Police Department’s efforts to enhance campus safety is the security guard team — a group of individuals dedicated to serving the university community and lending a helping hand wherever it is needed.
Coordinated by Virginia Tech Emergency Management, a formal plan identifies potential emergency conditions at an event site and lays out procedures that need to be followed to increase preparedness, minimize risk, and prevent injury.
Case has served in a number of roles within the squad, including as an attendant, assisting with patient care on emergency calls; as the former director of special projects; and currently as an ambulance driver.
On Sept. 30 and Oct. 10, the Virginia Tech Police Department notified the community of multiple larcenies of packages which had occurred in some Virginia Tech residential halls. A suspect involved in some of those larcenies has been identified, is being cooperative, and has admitted responsibility for their involvement.
On Oct. 9, the Carilion Clinic Police received a report of a stalking incident that occurred on Sept. 27 and Oct. 9 respectively in the area of the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion.
