WVTF Public Radio & Radio IQ will air a new radio news, talk and call in program beginning Friday, August 3rd at 9am. "Virginia Conversations" is produced by Virginia Public Radio, a news service managed by the WVTF staff with participating radio stations from around Virginia. The new show will replace the first hour of classical music programming on WVTF and the 9-10am hour of NPR's "Morning Edition".

WVTF Public Radio appoints Steve Brown as Music Director following the unexpected passing of Seth Williamson. Steve Brown continues to host the "Morning Classics" and "Afternoon Classics" programs as well as serve as Director of Public Service Announcements. Brown is admired by many including David Stewart Wiley of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Long Island Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera conductor Steven White. Steve Brown is also active as a composer, conductor and actor with the Blacksburg Community Band, Radford University Theater Department, Summer Musical Enterprise, Mill Mountain Theatre, Showtimers and Attic Productions. Steve Brwon has appeared on the television show "Jeopardy" three times and once on "Jokers Wild". He previously worked as a broadcaster for Armed Forces Radio and WUWF in Pensacola, Florida.
